How this works
Manufacturers must report every safety defect to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which publishes the recalls, and the complaints owners file, as public data. We download it every day and organise it by make, model and year, so you can see everything for your vehicle on one page.
A recall usually covers only some vehicles of a model and year, often those built between two dates. So a recall listed here may not apply to your car, and it may have been fixed already. Your VIN settles both: NHTSA’s VIN lookup shows the unrepaired recalls on a specific vehicle. Recall repairs are always free.
