- Summary
- Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. The non-return valve installed at the lower end of the fuel filler pipe can stick due to insufficient clearance between the valve case and the valve shutter combined with the material properties of the fuel hose between the filler pipe and the fuel tank.
- Consequence
- This can cause a "hard to refuel" condition, and in some instances, a "fuel spit back" during refueling.
- Remedy
- Dealers will replace the non-return valve with a modified return valve.
- Notes
- Owner notification began may 19, 2000.OWNERS who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Mazda at 1-800-222-5500. Also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
