- Vehicle description: sport utility vehicles. One or both of the bolts that retain the brake caliper to the axle may have missed a final assembly torque operation. Consequently they may be loose or possibly missing.
- Consequence
- Caliper disengagement from the axle could result causing reduced vehicle stability when braking and possibly locking up of the affected wheel.
- Remedy
- Dealers will inspect these vehicles to verify that the proper torque has been applied.
- Notes
- Owner notification began July 17, 2000. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact land rover at 1-800-637-6837.ALSO contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
