On certain garbage and recycling trucks, the steering shaft could break and possibly cause a complete loss of vehicle control.

Summary: On certain garbage and recycling trucks, the steering shaft could break and possibly cause a complete loss of vehicle control.
Consequence: If the steering shaft breaks, the steering control could be lost and the vehicle could be involved in a crash, which could result in property damage, personal injury or death.
Remedy: Dealers will remove and install a new steering shaft and a new reinforcement bracket that was designed to avoid sideload. The recall began on July 14, 2006. Owners should contact labrie at 1-877-452-2743.
