Summary: The brake drums on the involved vehicles may be defective. If a vehicle with defective brake drums is driven in such a way as to increase heat build up, the brake drums could crack and possibly disintegrate, causing loss of braking action on the rear wheels.
Consequence: Should brake drum failure occur, the stopping distanceof the vehicle will be increased and loss of vehicle control and an accidentmay occur.
Remedy: Dealer will correct by installing new brake drums. If a balance vibration problem occurs after correction, the rear wheels will be spun balanced. Owner will be reimbursed for any labor charges.
Notes: Vehicle description: motorhomes, 27 and 30 foot, with a GVWR of either 13,000OR 13,500 pounds.system: service brakes; brake drums.note: since vehicles are equipped with a "split" braking system, the frontbrakes will work even if rear brakes become inoperative. However, at highspeeds the vehicle stopping distance may be more than doubled. Vehicle shouldbe driven with extreme caution at prudent speeds. Vehicle should not be drivenafter failure has occurred.
