Summary: The steering wheel retaining ring may have been omitted during vehicle assembly. This could allow the attachment nut to unscrew, resulting in a separation of the steering wheel from the steering column shaft.
Remedy: Upon inspection, a steering wheel attachment nut retaining ring will be installed. The owner also has the option of installing the ring himself.
