Summary: The assembly that connects the steering shaft to the steering gear has a loose connection which allows excessive play in the steering wheel.
Remedy: If the components are found to be loose, a steering sprocket and yoke assembly will be replaced. If the splines of the steering gear input shaft are worn, the shaft will also be replaced.
Notes: Vehicle description: trucks, series 3600 and 3400.SYSTEM: steering; shaft.consequences of defect: this condition could cause loss of steering control,resulting in an accident.
