- The gr#5 cap nut may not be strong enough to support the weight applied to the outer wheels. Consequence of defect: if the nut fails, allowing the outer wheel to separate from the unit and accident may occur.
- Remedy
- Replace gr#5 cap nuts with gr#8 cap nuts.
- Notes
- System: wheels/inner cap nuts. Vehicle description: dump trailers with aluminum dual disc wheels using gr#5INNER cap nuts.
