Summary: Steering gears have no end-of-travel stops. Extreme left and right turns place added loads on the axle steering arm which can cause the arm to loosen and shear mounting studs.
Consequence: Loosening of the steering arm or shearing of themounting studs result in loss of steering control, and a possible vehicleaccident.
Remedy: Install steering arm stop and new studs.
