The school bus chassis failed the FMVSS 301 crash barrier test when a return fuel hose was severed, resulting in a fuel loss greater than the amount allowed by the standard.

Summary: The school bus chassis failed the FMVSS 301 crash barrier test when a return fuel hose was severed, resulting in a fuel loss greater than the amount allowed by the standard.
Consequence: The school bus chassis does not meet the requirements offmvss 301. Also, spilled fuel can result in a fire when exposed to a sourceof ignition.
Remedy: Lengthen and reroute the fuel return hose.
