Routing of the wiring harness to the steering wheel controls may permit chafing between the steering column lock disc and the convoluted tubing which houses the electrical harness.

- Routing of the wiring harness to the steering wheel controls may permit chafing between the steering column lock disc and the convoluted tubing which houses the electrical harness.
- Consequence
- Extensive chafing conditions can cause an electricalshort and result in a fire. Also, the fuse link wired to the ignition circuitmay permit overloading if a short occurs.
- Remedy
- Clamp the wiring harness away from moving parts of the steering column. Replace the fusible link in the circuit with an appropriate amperage load capacity fusible link.
