Summary: The crosshead king pin forgings of the upper coupling assembly can crack, chip, or break off. This can cause coupler separation.
Consequence: Coupler separation can result in the piggy-back trailerseparating from its towing vehicle and/or a rail car, resulting in a possiblevehicle accident.
Remedy: Replace defective king pins. Oshkosh will warrant the entire upper coupling assembly for ten years after inspection and repairs.
