- Summary
- Power steering hose assemblies were built with incorrect end fittings. These end fittings were rated at 1250 PSI working pressure and the correct end fittings are rated at 2000 PSI.
- Consequence
- The end fittings could fail under normal system pressure,resulting in loss of power steering assist and/or leakage of power steeringfluid. Loss of power steering assist may result in loss of steering controlwhich may cause an accident. Leakage of power steering fluid may result in afire.
- Remedy
- Remove and replace the power steering pressure line between the power steering pump and the steering gear box.
