- Summary
- These vehicles are missing a propshaft retainer strap. In the event of a driveline detachment, this strap prevents the driveline from contacting the ground.
- Consequence
- If a driveline should completely separate from the vehicle while it is in motion, the driveline can contact the ground resulting in a possible loss of control of the vehicle.
- Remedy
- Dealers will inspect the vehicles and if necessary insall a propshaft retainer strap.
- Notes
- Owner notification:owner notification is expected to begin during October 1996. Note:owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact utilimaster at 1-800-582-3454.ALSO contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-800-424-9393.
