- Summary
- Vehicle description: motorcycles. The latch securing the passenger seat on these motorcycles can fail allowing the seat and passenger to fall off the rear of the motorcycle.
- Consequence
- The passenger could sustain serious injuries or death.
- Remedy
- Dealers will replace these seats with a new seat that incorporates an improved latch mechanism and a more rigid base. In addition, some body work around the passenger seat will be removed so that the replacement seat will fit properly.
- Notes
- Owner notification began April 23, 1998.OWNERS who take their motorcycles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact moto america at 1-800-usa-moto (1-800-872-6686).also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
