- Vehicle description: if the vehicle is operated in a hot, humid environment with the window open and air conditioner running, it is possible for condensation to enter the audio unit and cause a short circuit.
- Consequence
- If the short circuit occurs at one specific set of terminals, the speaker can overheat and in some cases, catch fire.
- Remedy
- Dealers will affix aluminum tape over the audio unit to prevent water from entering.
- Notes
- Owner notification began during December 1998.OWNERS who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contactmazda at 1-800-222-5500.ALSO contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
