- Summary
- Vehicle description: transit buses. The brake system response time for apply and the stopping distance requirement when the control line was disconnected at the rear relay valve did not comply with the requirements of FMVSS no. 121, "air brake system."
- Consequence
- Increased braking distance can occur increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy
- Dealers will add a double check valve at the control port of the service relay valve and replace a 5/8" line with a 3/4" line from the front service reservoir to the brake pedal.
- Notes
- Owner notification is expected to begin November 28, 1998.OWNERS who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact nabi at 1-256-831-4296. Also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
