- The lower ball joint retaining nut that holds the lower ball joint to the steering knuckle was not torqued correctly.
- Consequence
- If the lower ball joint becomes disconnected from thesteering knuckle, the wheel will tip outward resulting in loss of steeringcontrol and a possible vehicle accident.
- Remedy
- Inspect lower ball joints, replace worn parts, and torque the lower ball joint mounting nut 130 to 150 foot pounds.
