For the 1995 International Harvester 4900. These apply to the model and year, not to one particular vehicle: check your VIN to see whether yours is included and whether it has been repaired.

Has your International Harvester been repaired?

Recalls here come from NHTSA’s records for the model and year. Not every vehicle of a model is included in every recall, and this site can’t see whether a repair has been done. Only a VIN lookup can tell you that.

NHTSA’s VIN search doesn’t show recalls that were already repaired, recalls more than 15 years old, or some small manufacturers’ recalls. A International Harvester dealer can also check your VIN. Recall repairs are free.

August 2, 1994NHTSA 94V144000373 vehicles potentially affected

Engine and engine cooling › Engine › Gasoline › Turbo/supercharger

Summary
Four compression backplate retaining fasteners on the turbo-charger were torqued only hand tight. This allows the fasteners to loosen, and causes oil to leak into the compressor air side of the turbo-charger which, when coupled with the heat precipitated by the compressor and the mixing action of the compressor wheel, can result in an air/oil mixture that fuels the engine.
Consequence
When this occurs, engine run-on and subsequent loss of operator control via the normal throttle mechanism can occur, which could result in a vehicle accident.
Remedy
Replace the suspect turbo-charger with a new turbo-charger.
